Colossians 3:12 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. (NIV)

This is a tall order and impossible to do on our own.  It is only through the Holy Spirit within us that we can really be compassionate, kind, humble, gentle and (hardest for me) patient.  We continually compare ourselves with others.  In doing that, humility falls by the wayside along with compassion.  We may claim to be patient with other people but we might have trouble being patient with ourselves.  Jesus said not to call anyone stupid (raca) but I am guilty of calling some other drivers stupid not to mention calling myself stupid on occasion.  When we come to recognize Who God really is compared to who we are we will gradually recognize everything is about Him, not us.  Then comes true humility, not only in our relationship with God but our relationship with others.  Matthew 5:22 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell. (NIV)
