As We Think

Proverbs 23:7a 7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: (KJV)

We must guard our minds when thinking about ourselves.  It works both in thinking more of ourselves than we really are and thinking less of ourselves than we really are.  What we think about ourselves we will become.  When I do something and it isn’t the right thing to do and I say I’m stupid, if I think that often enough I will eventually think I really am stupid and will not make the effort to learn anything.  To the opposite, if I think I know everything, and that I’m always right, I will eventually quit listening to others, or God, in a humble, accepting attitude of correction or learning.  In and of ourselves, we are nothing but a bunch of elements held together.  But, when we come to God through His Son, Jesus, God’s Spirit unites with our spirit and we become His child, recreated in His image.  As we learn to be obedient to the voice of God (Jesus is the Word of God) we are promised to have the mind of Christ.  It is all by the grace of God.  In our heart should be humble thanksgiving that we are more than conquerors and have all the powers of God at our disposal and are worth loving and being loved because of God’s grace and sacrifice.  This also applies to how we think about others.  We will treat them according to how we think about them rather than what God thinks about them.  It also applies to how we think about God.  Let our hearts be full of humble thankfulness and walk in the power of God’s children, who, like God, want the best for all.
