Be a Witness

Acts 1:8 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (NIV)

John 3:31-32 31 The one who comes from above is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth and speaks as one from the earth. The one who comes from heaven is above all. 32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard, but no one accepts his testimony. (NIV)

Notice in Acts 1:8 Jesus said “you will be witnesses).  He didn’t say you are to witness but you will be.  This means our very lives are to be witnesses.  If we don’t show in the way we live, the love of God, if our lives don’t show the power of God flowing through us, it matters not what we say with our mouths.  We must reflect are we witness when we stand in a long, slow moving line, when we are in traffic and people try to cut in front of us, when someone is rude to us?  I think you get the idea.  Our lives must consistently witness to God in us.  Jesus came to earth as a witness of the Father, His love for us, His power, mercy and grace.  All Jesus did witness to the love of the Father.  He sent us His Holy Spirit so we can be witnesses just as He was when He walked this earth.  Let’s put our own fleshly impatience and desires to rest and be consistent witness of God and all His attributes.
