In Paradise

Luke 23:43 43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (NIV)

After Jesus asked God to forgive those who were crucifying Him, He had a short conversation with one of the thieves.  This thief admitted he deserved what He got and asked Jesus for mercy.  Jesus gave the thief (who, as we say today, was on his deathbed) he would join Jesus this very day in paradise.  The thief lived a life of sin.  Yet, when he asked Jesus, he was forgiven and promised eternal life in the presence of God.  The only qualification was coming to God through Jesus.  It doesn’t matter how late in our lives we come to Jesus, nor what we have done in the past. God’s mercy extends to all of us.  The earlier in our life on this earth we come to God, the more fulfilled and abundant our lives are.  The moment we die, Jesus said we will be in paradise. Paradise is how Jesus described His home in heaven.
