Present Day

James 4:14 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. (NIV)

Some misunderstand this verse and use it as an excuse not to make any plans for the future.  What this verse means is to fully live each day as if it is your last day and to treat others as if it is their last day.  None of us knows what tomorrow holds for us.  We make plans, hopefully under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, submitting our plans to God for His correction and approval but, we don’t sit on hold on the present day waiting for the plans to come about.  We can look with anticipation but we take every day as it comes, giving glory to God and working for His Kingdom.  We treat each person who comes into our path that day like we want them to remember us and tell God how we treated them.  We also must treat ourselves accordingly.  We don’t use the excuse we might not be here tomorrow so we might as well eat or do whatever we want.  We must steward our bodies, our time, our words and our actions as all belonging to God, which they do, and make the best use of every minute, fully experiencing all God allows to come our way.
