What If?

Philippians 4:6 6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (NIV)

Have you ever played the “what if” game?  It’s such a temptation when we look at our current situation or look ahead.  Because we don’t know what will happen beyond the present with any amount of certainty, we tend to think out on “what if.”  Playing the “what if” game produces anxiety.  The antedote to this is remembering that Jesus said He would always be with us.  No matter what we might face in the future, Jesus is already there preparing the way for us.  “What if” can’t change what comes.  We can live securely in the present and know our tomorrows are in the hand of God.  What counts is what is.  Most “what if’s” we imagine probably will never service.  So, instead of playing the “what if” game let us live fully the moment we are in and leave tomorrow in the very capable hands of our Father, God.
