True Worship

1 John 4:20-21 20 If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For the person who does not love his brother he has seen cannot love the God he has not seen. 21 And we have this command from Him: The one who loves God must also love his brother. (NIV)

Isaiah 58 describes the people moving the wrong direction.  Instead of worshiping God they are worshiping the act of worship.  They are heading to pride of how religious they are and judgement of how others aren’t as religious.  It is so easy to head the wrong direction.  Jesus summed up how to stay in the right direction when He summarized the 10 commandments into 2: love God with all our heart, mind and soul and our neighbor as our self.  When asked who our neighbor is He said anyone in need.  We all need to be loved, respected and accepted without judgement.  True worship can’t occur when we are standing in judgment or no acceptance of another person.  Let us be careful not to judge or criticize another as we prepare to worship.  Let us truly love others with the love of God, wanting only God’s best for all.
