Proverbs 8:34 34 Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway. (NIV)

Doors mark a place of transition.  Through them you pass from one place to another.  Doors can be shut or open.  They can be locked or unlocked.  I have been planning a big trip with much excitement and was really looking forward to it.  2 times the door was shut.  As I prayed about it I recalled a time we forced a door open in spite of it being shut several times.  We paid the price for it for 4 years.  I didn’t want to repeat that lesson so, after praying, I called and canceled the planned trip.  Was I disappointed?  Yes.  But I can’t see what is ahead even the next hour.  I trust God allowed the door to be shut because He has other plans for me during that time.  It is so wonderful to be able to trust the Creator of all that was, is or will ever be with the plans for my future.  Doors are good for transition.  They are good when opened and one can walk through freely.  The are good when closed and one needs to knock to test and see if they might be locked.  The are also good when they don’t open because a closed door can be protection from a transition that wasn’t meant to be.  Next time we see a closed door, lets be sure to knock in prayer asking God if it is to open and we are to step through to whatever lies on the other side.
