God is Bigger than Mistakes

2 Timothy 3:16 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, (NIV)

The word “scripture” in the New Testament refers to the books of the Old Testament.  The entire Bible has been translated many times. The original writings weren’t written with the idea they would someday be considered sacred.  But collectively we call them the written word of God.  Yes, they probably have mistakes in them but God is bigger than any mistake.  The Bible needs to be read through the Holy Spirit within us.  Every time before I preach I pray for the Holy Spirit to make each person hear what God wants them to hear.  Several times I have asked different people what they heard me say  They would each say something very different, even different from what I thought I said.  This is the work of the Holy Spirit.  Just as they heard different things, we understand different things when we read the Bible, according to where we are in our walk and what God wants us to understand.  We need not worry about what translation we use, what is considered the most accurate translation.  The Bible is the Living Word of God because the Holy Spirit interprets any translation we read in the way we need at the time.  Just pick a translation that seems to flow in you, pray before you read and listen to the whisper of the Holy Spirit as He brings you understanding.
