Connect to Power

John 14:13-14 13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it (NIV)

I’ve been meditating and asking God to help me fully understand what it means to ask in the name of Jesus.  When a king issues a command to a servant the servant goes out in the name of the king to do what the king instructed him to do.  In this regard the servant has the power of the king.  We can only be praying in the name of Jesus if what we are doing is following His instructions.  When we pray for what we want or what we think should happen without asking God if that is what He wants, we are not praying in His name no matter what we say.  This is why so many prayers seem unanswered.  Prayer is the strongest weapon Christians have yet we seem flippant about it.  Before we can pray, we must listen for the instruction on what to pray.  Then, when we speak those instructions we connect with the power in the heavenlies and things happen.  When we don’t see things happening we are praying amiss.  Let us not be lazy in our prayers.  Let us seek God first on what to pray then pray in the name of Jesus.  Connecting to His power will bring about true miracles.
