For the Purpose

Genesis 2:3

Genesis 2:3  Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, for on it He ceased from all His work that God created for the purpose of preparing. (Tree of Life Version)

First a note on the Tree of Life Translation of the Scriptures.  It was translated by Jewish Rabies who accepted Jesus as their Messiah, their Lord and Savior.  They had a team of 40.  Their translation includes the cultural meaning of the Hebrew words at the time they were written.

Notice the phrase, “God created for the purpose of preparing” at the end of this verse.  I find this very meaningful.  God created the heaven and the earth and all therein for the purpose of the mankind He created to dwell with Him, fellowshipping with Him and tending what God created.  I find we are doing a very poor job.  We are not caring for the earth, rather we are polluting it with our obsession of material goods.  We tend not to spend our days fellowshipping with Him in the way He intended and desires.  God has demonstrated how very much He loves us.  First by the creation He blessed us to live in, and then by the gift of the sacrifice of His Word, made flesh as we are made, to suffer, take on our sins that separate us from Him, died and rose that we might return to the way God intended us to live.  Let us acknowledge our failure and, with determination, take better care of the earth and all therein as we walk through each and every day in fellowship with God.  This means not only talking to Him throughout our day, but talking with Him – listening to His part of our conversation.
