Possessing

Genesis 13:17 17 Get up and walk around the land, through its length and width, for I will give it to you.” (NIV)

Before Abraham could possess the land, God promised to give him, he had to walk it.  It was only his when he actively took it.  When God gives us His gifts, they aren’t really ours until we not only accept them, we must use them.  The gifts of the Holy Spirit are available to each of us as we have need of them.  But, if we fail to use them, they do us no good.  The gift of giving won’t activate unless we first choose to give.  The most important one, the gift of love, remains dormant until we choose to love.  The love of the Bible isn’t always emotional.  It means wanting God’s best for another and being willing to be part of God’s best in helping another.  Let us be sure we not only talk about the gifts God gives us.  Let us be sure to activate them by using them.
