Takes Pleasure

Psalms 147:11 11 The Lord taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy. (NKV)

The correct translation for “fear” is reverence, worship” and I definitely reverence and worship the Lord, God.  I also place all my hope in Him and His mercy.  With that in mind, it blows my mind that God would ever take pleasure in me.  I don’t always take pleasure in myself.  I see my faults and failures.  God looks at me and sees the blood of His Son, Jesus.  God sees the righteousness of His Son, Jesus covering me.  This gives Him pleasure.  It is not what we do or don’t do that gives God pleasure in us.  It is our being adopted as His children through the blood of His only Son, Jesus, that gives Him such great pleasure.  We are imperfect yet we take pleasure in our children, even when their actions might disappoint us.  God is perfect.  He created us.  He knows every hair on our head.  His knowledge is too great for us to comprehend.  He even knows every star and had a name for each one.  (Psalms 147:4 4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names. NKV) We are more dear to Him than the stars.  Let us never put ourselves down.  Let us remember we are children of God and He delights in us.  Let us use that knowledge to learn more of Him, listen to Him and follow Him in our actions and our thoughts.
