Luke 9:51 51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, (NKJ)

I’ve been writing a devotion every day for over 8 years.  Sometimes I don’t feel like writing.  There are many times we don’t feel like doing what we know we should do.  When that feeling hits me I think of Jesus.  He was sent by the Father to go to the cross.  I’m sure He didn’t really want to.  In His last prayer we read, (Luke 22:42) 4 “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” (NIV)  He really didn’t want to face the cross yet, He was willing to do whatever the Father wanted Him to do.  Then there are times I think, what could I write about that is any different from what I’ve already written the past 8+ years.  But in Lamentations 3:22-23 we read,  It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.  Each day is a new day.  If we continue to grow in the Lord, we are different each day than the day before.  Our understanding changes and grows with our growth in God.  If we are the same today as we were yesterday, if all we know of God is what we knew of Him yesterday, we are not growing in Him.  Feelings are fine and good but are not to replace obedience.  Let us determine to walk anew, daily with God through the power of His Holy Spirit dwelling in us.  Let us always be ready to hear Him in new and different ways and be open to new and different things He calls us to go and do.  But let us always be sure whatever we hear and do is in agreement with the written word of God, the Holy Bible.
