As David Did

Psalms 142:7 7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me. (KJV)

David had a right to feel sorry for himself.  He wrote songs and poetry to vent his feelings.  Yet he knew Who to look to and express his feelings.  His desire was to praise God in and through all situations.  I’m sure David had no idea his writings would be read by generations and generations of people.  I too, have written my feelings in logs and some in songs.  Looking at David’s makes me want to destroy my logs I know how many thousands have been encouraged over the centuries reading David’s logs.  Maybe mine might encourage my children or grandchildren if any of them choose to browse through them.  But, what the logs are best for are for ourselves to browse through our past feelings and see how God has walked with us through the various trials of our past.  They are tremendous faith builders in current times of trials.  I encourage you to keep a log or at least a prayer journal.  I doubt very many others will ever read our private journals or logs but they are good for our own growth and encouragement.  Many times, writing about the trial helps the trial not seem so harsh.  It also helps us focus our eyes and mind on God.  Let us always pray for God to bring our soul out of the prison of sadness or depression and help us praise Him.
