Stewards

1 Corinthians 4:1-2 1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. 2 Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. (NKJ)

1 Peter 4:10-11 10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. (NKJ)

We like to use the word “own.”  We own our cars, houses, money, etc.  In reality, we own nothing.  All creation belongs to God.  That includes people.  Everything that ever was, is or will be comes from God and is owned by Him.  We are merely stewards of what God owns.  But, we don’t usually act as stewards.  We like to take possession of things.  We even like to take possession of people.  Some parents thing they own their children and set their own plans for their children.  We are stewards.  That means we are care-takers of what God owns.  To each He gives a portion of what He owns for each one to tend and care, remembering that all belongs to God.  When we give our tithe, we are not really giving but returning to God what is already His.  Because we are stewards, it is very important for us to continually hear God and what to do and how to care and use what He entrusts to us.  This applies to all areas of our lives.  Let us remember Who the Owner is and be good and faithful stewards of all God puts in our hearts, hands and mind.
