Psalms 66:18 18 If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; (NIV)

Isaiah 59:2 2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. (NIV)

These are only 2 of the many verses in the Bible that tell us when unconfessed sin is in us our prayers aren’t heard by God.  Sin separates us from God because God will not be in the presence of sin.  That is why He had to withdraw from His Son, Jesus, when Jesus, on the cross, took on our sins.  Before we enter in prayer would need to join David when he said, Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. 24 See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (Psalms 139:23-24  NIV)  It is only after we have cleaned out the sin in our hearts that we can come before the throne of God with our praise, worship, thanksgiving and petitions.  Let’s not be so quick to ask for things before we do our housecleaning.
