Matthew 5:17 17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. (NIV)

When we read through the book of Deuteronomy we can be overwhelmed by the variety of sacrifices for different sins.  The requirements for these sacrifices were very specific.  Each type of sin had it’s own special sacrifice.  When Jesus died on the cross, He fulfilled all these sacrifices for all sins for all time.  We no longer need to partake in those sacrifices.  Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins for all time. When we continue reading chapter 5 of Matthew we read we must still obey the commands of God given to Moses.  God knows we aren’t able to obey them perfectly.  That’s why He sent His Son, His Word made flesh to dwell among us and show us what He means.  He also sent the Holy Spirit to dwell in each and every follower to help us obey the commandments given through Moses.  If there were no other reason but this, it is more than enough to never be able to give God enough thanks and praise.
