Meaningless

Ecclesiastes 1:2 2 “Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.” (NIV)

There are times when all of us feel our lives don’t really matter.  We feel we aren’t successful enough; we are living up to our own expectations or the expectations of others.  This is how the author of Ecclesiastes was feeling.  I was feeling a little this way one day.  I was thinking I have been writing a different devotion every day for over 8 years and it probably wasn’t really of interest to anyone or helping anyone jump start their devotion time.  Though there is a place for people to put comments I seldom read them as it requires getting into a different page.  The purpose of the blog is for jumpstarting others into a thought for them to meditate on and look further into scripture so comments are not showing up for the readers.  I was surprised when I looked on my comment page.  There were so many comments and all were positive but one stood out above the rest.  One of the devotions changed someone’s mind from committing suicide.  I thank God for letting me see that He can do something for others through the writings He gives me.  We seldom see what God does through us for others.  God only asks us to obedient to His leading so He can do His work through us.  There is not one person on this earth who isn’t loved and important to God.  He wants to continue His work through each and every one of us.  Let us be open to His leading without doubting His power to flow through us even when we are unaware.  To all those who have left comments, thank you for the encouragement to continue on as God leads.  Our lives are not meaningless.  Our lives are to bring glory to God through the power of His Holy Spirit in any way He chooses.
