Always Watching

Proverbs 15:3 3 The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good. (KJV)

I was in my car expressing to myself my irritation at another driver who was now out of sight.  No one could see or hear me.  Then this verse came to mind.  God could see and hear me.  So often we act and speak one way when others are around to see and hear us but we act, think and speak differently when we think there is no one around to hear and see.  This is because of the natural sin pride.  We like to make ourselves look and sound better than we are.  But, we aren’t fooling God.  He knows exactly who we are.  We need to learn consistency in our lives.  We’re here to please God, not necessarily please ourselves or others.  Usually our pleasing God will also please ourselves and others.  We need not cringe at the thought of never being out of God’s sight or hearing.  He loves us; in spite of our pride, our disobedience and our vacillations, He loves us far beyond our ability to comprehend.  Let us learn to be who we are – a child of God who is striving to learn and act like our Father.  When we mis-step, He is right here to pick us up, love us and show us the right way.
