Romans 9:19-21 19 One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who is able to resist his will?” 20 But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’” 21 Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use?(NIV)

Our relationship with our earthly fathers is different than it was in the writing of the epistle of Romans.  At that time fathers were the unquestionable ruler of the family.  They told their children what they would do, when they would do it, who they would marry – basically everything that would ever involve the children.  The children accepted the rule of the father.  Today in our culture children feel free to disagree both in words and in actions with their fathers.  This has affected us in how we relate to God.  Because we see Him as our Father we tend to forget to acknowledge with our word and actions Who He really is.  We think we know best what and when to do with our lives and only go to the Father when we get into trouble.  We forget we belong to God.  We thin we belong to our own self.  In actuality we don’t have the right to decide in and of ourselves what we will do with our time on this earth.  That right completely belongs to our Father, God.  It is He Who has made us and not we ourselves.  Let us remember when He made us He made us out of love and He has only the best for us planned for our time on this earth.  Let’s take the easy way and flow with Him.
