Ephesians 6:13 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. (NIV)

We must put on every piece of the armor of God.  This will make it possible for us to stand our ground.  When standing our ground with the full armor of God, we have done everything necessary to stand firm.  The first piece of armor is (Ephesians 6:14) Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist.  The belt of the Roman armor at that time was quite similar to the belt wrestlers and other athletes wear to give the core of their bodies the support needed for exertion of the body.  God’s belt is truth.  When we are girded with the truth of God, we have discernment of good verses evil.  Truth shows us what to fight.  Truth prevails over lies because lies are eventually broken down by God’s truth.  So often when we see and hear lies we feel uneasy in our stomachs.  This weakens us.  Girding our waist with the belt of God’s truth sets our core in the strength of God.  To know God’s truth, to put on the belt of God’s truth, we must know in our minds and hearts the written word of God – our instruction book giving us the window to God’s truth.  Let us be intent in our studies of the Holy Bible that we can keep the belt of truth securely buckled around our waist.
