Cut Out

Hebrews 4:12 12 For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (NIV)

For this verse to apply to us we must read the written word, the Holy Bible, study it and apply it to our everyday words and actions.  We must be open and honest with ourselves when we read it.  We can’t just gloss over thinking it doesn’t really apply to us.  We must allow the written word, through the Holy Spirit, to judge our thoughts and attitudes.  This can be hard for some of us to do because we like to think we are better than we really are.  We like to shove down certain thoughts as if we never have them.  It takes the written word of God to cut through our thoughts and attitudes.  A surrendered life will allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to us the thoughts and attitudes which must be cut out of our minds and hearts.  Let us learn to allow the sword of God’s Spirit to cut out of us any thought or attitude which are not in line with His written word.
