John 14:6 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (NIV)

Any think that a loving God would welcome all to live with Him for eternity.  As long as they’re basically good, they should be able to go to heaven.  This is a misunderstanding of Who God is.  We are so accustomed to our right and freedom of choice that we think anything we choose is the right way for us.  God is the One Who created all that was, is and will ever be.  All things created are subjected to Him.  He created us.  He alone has the right and authority to set the rules.  He chose to send His Word, His only Son, in the physical form of Jesus Christ, to connect us to Himself, the Father, God.  He chose Jesus as the only way for people He created to spend eternity with Him.  His love is in the fact that He sent Jesus to die on the cross as a one-time sacrifice of blood to cover our sins.  Before Jesus shed His blood on the cross, mankind had to shed the blood of animals regularly as sin offerings.  We no longer need to sacrifice animals.  The sin offering was given by Jesus once and for all eternity for all who would come to Him in faith.  It isn’t a lack of love that God requires us enter His gates through Jesus.  It was an extreme love that allows us the way of entrance through His Son, Jesus.  This is the ultimate love.
