Look at the Heart

1 Samuel 16:7 7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (NIV)

We need reminder of this so very often.  We are so quick to judge or size up people by how they look, how they dress, what type of job they have, their education and so on.  Because we do this most of us always try to present the image, we think others would like and respect rather than who we really are.  God sees through all of this.  He looks at our heart, the who we are when no one is looking.  God chose David, who, as the youngest was treated more as a servant.  Taking care of the sheep was considered one of the lowliest jobs.  Yet, this shepherd boy was being raised up by God to be King of God’s chosen people.  God can, will and does use any of us for His purposes.  We mustn’t think that we’re not good enough, important enough, educated enough or any other enough for God to work through us.  Each of us is important to God.  We must remember that about all others we see.  We are all equally important.  Let us ask God to help us see others as He sees them.  Let us also ask God to help us see ourselves as He sees us.
