Refreshing

Jeremiah 31:25 25 I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.” (NIV)

When we don’t know we need refreshing we can’t be refreshed.  Also, if we don’t know how we can be refreshed, we won’t be refreshed.  So many look to the wrong things or places for refreshment.  They think alcohol will refresh them.  Maybe they look to drugs or indiscriminate intercourse.  There is only one place to get really refreshed from the stress, trials and burdens of life on this earth.  That place is through the Word of God, the Holy Bible and through a close relationship with Him.  When God created man, He put a vacuum in man that can only be satisfied by the infilling of God’s Holy Spirit.  Man blew it when he became disobedient to God’s commands.  That void is there until mankind comes to God through His Word, His Son, Jesus.  Coming to Jesus isn’t just a one-time acceptance and belief in Jesus.  It is a daily relationship that needs daily refreshing.  We get this refreshing through daily reading, studying and meditating on the written word, the Holy Bible, which God supplied us with and through 2-way communication with Him (prayer) throughout each and every day.  When we find ourselves stressed, worried, worn out or dissatisfied with our life, we need to check our relationship with God.  Absence doesn’t make the heart grow fonder.  It makes the heart grow cold.  As we prepare to enter another calendar year let’s make a disciplined effort to refresh our relationship with God each and every day through daily Bible study and 2-way conversations with our Father each and every day.
