Matthew 7:6 6 “Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces. (NIV)

There’s not much more depressing than sharing a new insight into a scripture verse with someone and having them respond with an of course or you mean you didn’t already know or some other put-down remark.  It robs us of the joy of having a fresh insight into God’s word.  We not only need to be careful about who we share our insights with but we must be sure we are never on the other end by putting someone else down for what they are learning.  This doesn’t mean we don’t share scripture with others.  It only means what we share must be done with the leading of the Holy Spirit.  We are told in scripture to build one another up, not to put one another down.  Let us always be sure we are not the swine someone had dared to share what is sacred to them with us.  It is a privilege to be trusted enough for someone to share with us.
