Matthew 12:40 40 For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. (NIV)

Many confessing Christians say the Old Testament isn’t relevant for today.  They claim many of the events in the Old Testament are just fairy tells or metaphors.  Jesus quoted from the Old Testament a good bit.  In this verse in Matthew He compares what He will do with what happened to Jonah.  This is a confirmation from Jesus that Jonah was actually in the belly of a huge fish for 3 days and 3 nights.  Now, we can’t comprehend how this could really happen but, we still say with God all things are possible.  If we really believe with God all things are possible, why would we doubt the event of Jonah?  Just because we haven’t experienced or witnessed an experience doesn’t mean someone hasn’t experienced what we find mostly impossible to believe.  Let us remember we are not as intelligent as we like to think.  What man can’t do or understand God can and does.  Let us choose faith over our less than perfect intelligence.  With God all things are possible including all the events in the Old Testament.
