God’s Treasure

Matthew 13:44 44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. (NIV)

In order to correctly interpret a verse of scripture we must know how it relates to supporting scripture throughout the Bible.  In this verse the earth is the field and we, God’s created people, are the treasure.  Jesus is the man Who gave up His all and bought us, God’s treasure, with His blood.  This is what the entire Bible is about – God seeking His treasure in the field He created.  His treasure (us) has been buried in the sin of the earth.  We, His treasure, have a choice.  We can choose to stay buried or we can choose to allow the blood of Jesus that paid for us lift us out of our buried sin to not only bring us joy but bring God the joy of His treasure (us).  It is not us who find God.  It is God Who seeks and finds us.  Let us not choose to stay hidden.  Let us let Jesus remove our sin and God clothe us in the righteousness of His Son, His Word made flesh.
