1 Corinthians 4:15-16 15 Even if you had ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. 16 Therefore I urge you to imitate me. (NIV)

A tuning fork is a metal device made to a precise tone.  An orchestra gets it’s pitch from the 1st violinist who gets the pitch from a tuning fork set to always sound the note of “A.”  Paul was living a life imitating the life of Jesus.  He was implying his life was serving as a tuning fork for others.  Today people use various other people as their tuning forks. Some follow after movie stars, sports stars or other famous people.  We are to use Jesus as our tuning fork.  The only way to do this is through a deep reading and meditating on the Holy Bible – the instruction book God has caused His followers to write for us.  But it also takes the Holy Spirit to ring the tuning fork of the scriptures so we can hear the right pitch.  Just as musical instruments, tuning must be repeated more than once a day.  With use, the pitch of an instrument can get off kilter.  The same is true with us.  As we live throughout the day, we can gradually let our tune slip.  The Holy Spirit is in us to keep us in tune with God.  Let us learn to listen to the pitch the Holy Spirit plays with us throughout the day and stay in tune with God.
