For Our Own Pleasure

James 4:3 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. (NIV)

There are several reasons why prayers sometimes aren’t answered.  This one is fairly often.  We ask for things we want for the wrong reasons.  We want to look better than another, have something someone else as, be more powerful, be richer and on and on.  We sometimes pray with an attitude of it’s all about me.  After I finished a teaching to a group of women and invited those who wanted to come for pray, a lady came up and asked me to pray God would give her a car so she could go to work.  I had a check on that.  I told her I could only ask Him to provide her with a way to get to work.  She left mad.  She wasn’t concerned with getting to work.  She wanted a car.  So many times what we want and what we need are not the same.  I’m so glad I have a loving Father Who knows what I need and what is right for me.  When we find a prayer is not being answered we need to check our motives for the prayer.
