Following Us

Psalms 23:6 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. (NIV)

There is so very much contained in the verses of the 23rd Psalm.  Most of us have memorized it and tend not to really listen deep within our minds and spirits at what David really says in this Psalm.  I hope each of us will take the time to read it slowly and prayerfully.  For now we will look at the 6th verse.  What did David mean by “goodness?”  Goodness represents God’s provision for us.  He wants to be sure we have all we really need.  Usually He goes beyond our needs and showers us with so much more.  Many translations use the word “mercy” instead of “love.”  Either way it is His love for us that led Him to be merciful by forgiving us of our sins – over and over as often as we sin.  It is because of His goodness and love (or mercy) that enables us to dwell in His house forever.  We may choose to not turn around to see what and Who is following us but it doesn’t change the fact, wherever we go, the love and goodness will follow us.  We might choose not to receive it but it doesn’t mean it’s not there for us.  I pray every reader has chosen to accept the goodness and love following them every day of their walk on this earth that they will be dwelling in the house of the Lord forever.
