Stumblers

Luke 17:1 1 Jesus said to his disciples: “Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come. (NIV)

Notice Jesus told His disciples things will cause us to stumble.  He didn’t condemn stumbling.  He did condemn those who cause the stumbling.  We must be on the alert that we aren’t the ones causing someone else to stumble (weakening someone’s faith, causing someone to lie or any form of sin).  We can say something that puts someone else on the spot and makes them feel pressured to lie.  We can act in ways that aren’t pleasing to God and encourage others to act the same way.  We can tempt others to partake in something negative.  We can listen to or participate in gossip.  There are so many ways we can cause others to stumble.  Instead of being the cause of someone else’s stumbling let us be an encourager for others to be imitators of Christ Jesus.  When we see someone stumble, let us be an encourager for them to correct their stumble.  We are not only to watch out for ourselves, we are to help our brothers and sisters live pleasing lives to God.
