Eternity Now

John 17:3 3 Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.  (NIV)

This verse is in my favorite chapter in the Bible.  It is my favorite because toward the end of the chapter Jesus actually prays for you and me.  That thrills and amazes me that, in such a troubled hour, Jesus would think ahead and pray for those of us who come long after He returns to the Father.  In this verse He explains eternal life.  Eternal life is the knowing God and Jesus Christ.  The moment we take Jesus into our minds, hearts and lives eternal life begins.  Yes, we are still encased in a physical, sinful body, but the righteousness of Jesus covers us.  From that moment on through eternity we come closer into a true oneness with God and known Him a little more each and every day.  If we are not coming closer in our knowledge of God daily, we are not living the eternal life God has made available to us through His Son, Jesus Christ.  All we need do to come closer is to make ourselves available through the study of the written word, the Holy Bible, through prayer (2-way conversation with the Father) and listening to the person of the Holy Spirit within us.  What wonderful discoveries of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit wait for us each and every day.  That certainly makes our life in these physical bodies so much more abundant and joyful.  Let’s not waist a moment of our eternity.
