Hate the Act

Psalms 119:128 128 and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path. (NIV)

This is quite a statement.  The psalmist says he agrees with all God says.  For that it means we agree with all contained in the Holy Bible.  That means we don’t take out or add anything to it.  That also means we don’t redefine words to suit our own, fleshly desires.  If we are really abiding in Jesus we will agree with this statement.  If we agree with this statement, we will hate every wrong path; that is every thing that isn’t in agreement with the word of God.  At the same time, we must be sure not to hate the person who doesn’t agree with this statement.  It is the acts we hate, not the people who, though very misguided in their thinking and actions, do those acts.  It is only through our sharing the love of God that others will be able to receive His love and come into His Kingdom.  It is a difficult balance in keeping our hate for sinful acts separate from the people who do them.  The people who do them quite often think we are against them, not just their actions.  It is only through prayer and the power of the Holy Spirit that we can show the love of God while at the same time standing firm against sinful acts.  Remembering we, also, are guilty of sinful acts though we falsely think our sins are not as bad as those of others.  Let us not cast stones.  Let us reach out in love and demonstrate love by our actions.
