Whose First

Acts 4:29 29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. (NIV)

Notice the believers prayed for courage and strength to speak the word of God.  They didn’t pray for protection.  They didn’t pray for an easy life.  They were centered on bringing glory to God, serving Him and spreading the gospel to all as was the last command of Jesus before He returned to the Father.  Notice what happened after their prayer. Acts 4:31  After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.  One of the reasons we don’t see more miracles today is our self-centered prayers.  We are so good at asking for what we think we need and what we want to support our fleshly desires.  Where is our drive?  Where is our enthusiasm?  Where is our real commitment of love to share the word of God with those who don’t know, understand or accept?  Let us fight our pride of self-sufficiency and our idol of a comfortable life and really put God first above all.
