Engagements

Matthew 22:2 2 “The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. (NIV)

Please read the entire parable before reading this.  Engagements are a very important time of preparation for a wedding.  It takes time for 2 people, raised in different families, to really begin to know each other.  Engagements are a time to talk about issues of life that come up every day in a marriage.  While we are walking on this earth, we are in an engagement time with Jesus.  Hopefully, each and every day, through our conversations with Him in prayer and through the study and meditation on His written word, the Holy Bible, we learn a little more about Jesus each and every day.  Through our learning we learn more of how He expects us to live in union (marriage) with Him.  While we are learning to know our Lord, better, His Father is preparing a great wedding banquet for the time His Son, Jesus, returns to earth to bring His Bride (all the following believers who are In Christ) home to His Father for the great banquet.  What a wonderful time of rejoicing and celebrating that will be.  Right now, we must concentrate on knowing Jesus more and more.  That is why we have a time of engagements.  Let us do our part in learning more about Jesus while the Father does His part in preparing the wedding banquet.  As the parable says, all are invited but few accept the invitation.  Have you accepted the invitation?  The invitation reads in John 3:16.
