Goal Oriented

Luke 19:10 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” (NIV)

Jesus was goal oriented.  He knew He was on earth for a reason.  That reason was to seek out and save all of us who are lost and separated from God the Father.  Everything Jesus did was to achieve this goal.  How did He know what to do to achieve the goal?  In Mark 1:38  Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.”  First, He had to keep in mind what His goal was. In Luke 6:12 we read, One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.  Before any action or decision, Jesus spent time in prayer.  It’s interesting to read what occurred after Jesus prayed.  In this instance, Jesus chose the 12 disciples after talking and listening to His Father.  Even though Jesus is the Word of God and One Person of the God-head, He said (John 5:30) By myself I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but him who sent me.  How much more does this apply to us.  We end up not achieving what we set out to do because we think we can do it on our own.  We love our false feeling of independence.  In actuality, we can’t draw our next breath without the will of God for us to do so.  Let us remember to always pray and listen before we take action.  Let us also remember why we are here.  We are hers to bring glory to God and to share His love with others that they may come to know God.  It is God’s desire that not one be lost.
