In Defense

Matthew 26:74 74 Then he began to call down curses, and he swore to them, “I don’t know the man!”  Immediately a rooster crowed.  (NIV)

Let’s imagine ourselves in Peter’s place.  We stated that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God not so long ago.  Then, when Jesus talked about His upcoming death, Peter said He would defend Him even to his own death.  Now Peter is faced with the reality.  He is confused and scared.  He can’t understand why the Son of God would allow this to happen.  He is becoming full of doubts.  He fears for his own life.  There are times we are faced with the possibility of doubts.  Others tell us we are weak to believe in the only way to God is Jesus.  They say if God is love, all of us are saved.  Then others say there isn’t any God.  We have experienced a lot of problems and heart break in our walk.  Sometimes it seems we are alone.  Sometimes we wonder where is God?  This is why life is a faith walk.  We all have faith in something or someone.  Some have faith in their own intelligence.  Others have faith in people who are no longer in existence.  There is one big difference.  We have the Holy Spirit, the 3rd person of the Trinity God, living in us.  Peter was changed drastically when the Holy Spirit entered him.  He did eventually give his life on this earth in defense of Jesus.  Are we willing to stand strong and speak up in defense of Jesus as the only door to salvation?
