Renewal

2 Corinthians 4:16 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. (NIV)

As I watched a young man sprint up a flight of stair 2 at a time I recalled I used to be able to do that.  The aging process can be hard on our emotions.  We miss the things we use to be able to do.  But we are not to look backward.  As we age, we grow in wisdom.  As we grow in wisdom, if we really are followers of Jesus and thus children of God, we are being renewed inwardly each and every day.  Our understanding of our Father grows every time we pray and every time we read and meditate on His written word, the Holy Bible.  I see it as a trade off and much prefer the increased wisdom and knowing our Father more intimately over the physical abilities of the young.  What really amazes me is how God’s word can address all issues and thoughts we might ever have.  Fussing about what I can no longer do has been replaced with thanks for what He is now enabling me to know and do.  Let us never lose heart over an ability we loose but always look forward to our daily renewal through the Holy Spirit.
