Sorrowful

2 Corinthians 7:9 9 yet now I am happy, not because you were made sorry, but because your sorrow led you to repentance. (NIV)

When we are confessing our sins and asking for forgiveness, are we really sorry for our sins?  Sometimes confession becomes automatic.  We simply tell God we are sorry and please forgive us.  We don’t follow through by asking God’s Holy Spirit to enable us to repent, to turn in another direction and not repeat the same sin.  It takes true sorrow to desire to truly repent.  When we sin, when we recognize we have sinned, do we just say, oops or are we really sorrowful for slipping away from God’s way of life for us?  Let us realize how much unconfessed sin separates us from God’s power in us through His Holy Spirit.  Let us really be sorrowful and really have a heart for true confession and repentance.
