Guarantor

Hebrews 7:22 22 Because of this oath, Jesus has become the guarantor of a better covenant. (NIV)

When we sign as guarantor of someone else’s loan, we are saying we will pay their debt for them.  We can’t pay the debt of our sin and separation from God.  We are too full of sin.  It takes perfect righteous, it takes someone who has never sinned.  The only one Who has never sinned is Jesus, the Son of God.  He is the guarantor of our covenant with God.  Our covenant guarantees us a continual relationship with God throughout eternity.  The Guarantor has promised to cover all sin we ever have done, do or will do.  That is one provision to this guarantee.  We must confess our sins, repent from them (turn a different direction) and ask the Guarantor, Jesus Christ, to abide in us and have us abide in Him.  We do the abiding through the person of the Holy Spirit.  This can be hard for our finite minds to understand but we don’t need to understand.  We only need to accept the guarantee provided by God and trust Him.  He has said we must become as little children.  A little child trusts completely.  Praise God the Father and God the Son for providing us a way to worship, praise, trust, fellowship and be united with the three Persons of the Godhead now and for all eternity.
