Choose Joy

Psalms 51:12 12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. (NIV)

So many people confuse joy with happiness.  Joy comes from God.  Joy is knowing the salvation which comes from God through His Word, His Son, Jesus Christ.  Knowing we, if we have asked Jesus to be the Lord and Redeemer of our life, have the salvation only He can give, fills us with the joy of knowing we will forever be living in the Presence of God.  Happiness comes as a temporary emotion from external circumstances.  A new pair of shoes may bring us happiness for a sort while.  Happiness comes and goes but joy lasts for eternity.  We have a choice.  We can choose to receive and live in the joy that is from God or we can choose to ignore that joy and vainly seek fleeting happiness.  The choice is ours.  Let us choose to be joyful.
