Psalms 1:2-3 2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers. (NLV)

We had black walnut trees on some property we had.  Black walnut trees don’t bear many nuts until they are about 60 ft tall.  Their seasons of bearing fruit don’t begin until the trees are mature enough and deeply rooted.   Sometimes we wonder why we aren’t bear much fruit for God.  It is because we are not deeply rooted.  To dig our roots deep we must meditate on God’s word, the Holy Bible, day and night.  We must put His Word deeply into our minds and hearts.  We must allow the water of the Holy Spirit to flow in and through us as we read, study, meditate and memorize the written word of God which He so lovingly provided for us through those who were deeply rooted.  A good barometer of how well our roots are doing is how fruitful we are being.  The fruits we should be bearing are (Galatians 5:22-23)22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.  When we lack one of these fruits it is time to check on our feeding of our roots.  Let us take good care of our roots so we can be fruitful for the glory of our God.
