Philippians 2:5-8 5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
What was the mindset of Christ Jesus?  Let us continue with the next few verses. (Philippians 2:6-8 NIV)  6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross.  Lucifer was cast out heaven because of pride, the pride of wanting to be equal if not greater than God.  It was with that same motivation he was able to tempt Eve and Adam.  Ever since mankind has been pulled away from God with mankind’s own pride.  Before any of us think pride is not our problem, how many times have we been disappointed because something “good” we did didn’t get what we considered to be the appropriate acknowledgement?  In our sinful nature we don’t want to consider ourselves as being nothing in and of ourselves.  We want to be served rather than to serve.  We want an easy life rather than a life that would glorify God if in glorifying God means suffering in any way.  The only way we can become close to having the same mindset as Christ Jesus is through the power of the Holy Spirit.  In and of ourselves it is impossible.  Let us open ourselves up to the power of the Holy Spirit and give Him free reign in our mind and our lives.  Let us remember without God and His mercy, love and power we couldn’t even take our next breath.
