Physical Limitations

Genesis 1:27 27 So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. (NIV)

We are confused as to what the image of God is.  We think His image is our physical bodies.  Our physical bodies are just the temporary container of God’s Image.  Our creation wasn’t complete, wasn’t in God’s image until God breathed His breath of life into us.  How does the image of God look?  For that we must looks at the fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22. Take time right now to look them up and work on memorizing those verses.  Our physical bodies, the containers for God’s image, can be in any form or shape but we must be sure we allow the image of God to show through our bodies.  Jonnie Erickson Tata is a prime example of the image of God.  She is a quadriplegic yet she displays the image of God in spite of the condition of her physical body.  Yes, we are to take care of our container, our physical bodies, so they can house the image of God within them.  Our physical bodies might limit what we can physically do but, when we belong to God, His image in us cannot be limited by our physical limitations but only by our willingness to allow His image to show in and through us or choosing to be full of physical self.  Let us remember Whose we are and allow Him to shine forth through our words, actions and attitudes.
