Not We Ourselves

John 8:50 50 I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge (NIV)

This is Jesus talking.  He, whom we glorify, said He didn’t seek glory for Himself.  He said it is God, the Father of all, Who seeks glory for His Self.  God the Father is the ultimate judge of all.  If Jesus, Who died on the cross for us, doesn’t seek glory for Himself, what excuse can we ever find good enough to seek glory for ourselves.  We want to be recognized.  We want to be the one who is always right.  We want….we want….we want.  According to Jesus, it is all about the Father.  Everything was created to bring pleasure for the Father.  God wants to take pleasure in us.  For us to bring Him pleasure we must take pleasure in giving all glory, all praise and all credit to the Father.  Life isn’t about us and what we want.  Life is about glorifying the One Who made all life.  When I did concerts in churches I asked there be no applause.  The applause goes to God.  It is God Who enabled me to sing and compose songs.  God get’s all the credit.  He even gets the credit in my ability to hear Him.  I can only hear Him because the Holy Spirit enables me to do so.  We need to earn to pass all glory, praise, credit and applause to God the Father.  It is He Who has made us and enables us, not we ourselves.
