Giants

1 Corinthians 12:4 4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. (NIV)

Notice Who distributes the gifts of the Spirit.  All the gifts belong to the Holy Spirit.  They are not ours.  He makes any of the gifts we need at the time we need them available to us.  These are not gifts we own.  These are the Holy Spirit’s gifts available to us as we need to use them.  Because we have the availability of these gifts, we have no excuse to not be bold in our faith and service to God.  The gifts are available to us as we need them because we have a relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.  This is why young David was able and not afraid to beat Goliath.  He knew His relationship with God.  God demonstrated His power through David many times as he protected his sheep from lions and bears.  Goliath was nothing more than an adversary of God just as the lions and bears are adversaries of sheep.  David knew it wasn’t his own strength or strategy but the wisdom and power of God.  I’m sure David was listening to God as to the timing of letting that stone fly through the air at Goliath’s most vulnerable time.  Like David, we have nothing to fear.  We only need to learn to trust God and listen to the gentle instructions of the Holy Spirit.  God will give us the ability to defeat all giants in our lives if we would only listen and allow Him.
