Yesterday’s Bread

Luke 11:3 3 Give us each day our daily bread. (NIV)

Most all of us, when we think of bread, think of the physical food we make which we call bread.  Jesus said He is the bread of life.  The scripture is called the living word of God.  It is called living because the verses have multiple layers of meaning according to where we are in our time and space.  One meaning of this verse is that we don’t go physically hungry which, for most of us, is far from a problem.  Anther meaning is that we be full of Jesus, our bread of life, each and every day.  There is a song called “Not Yesterday’s Bread.”  For awhile I couldn’t understand what that meant.  So, I finally asked God to explaned that song to me.  We can’t live only on the infilling of the Holy Spirit from yesterday.  We need a fresh infilling every day.  We get this infilling through reading, studying and meditation on the scripture, the Holy Bible and talking with God each and every day.  What we learned and received yesterday is well and good but today is a new day and we need the Bread for this day.  Let us not depend on yesterday’s bread.  Let us seek our new bread for each and every day.
