Faith or Knowledge

1 Timothy 6:20-21 20 Timothy, guard what has been entrusted to your care. Turn away from godless chatter and the opposing ideas of what is falsely called knowledge, 21 which some have professed and in so doing have departed from the faith  (NIV)

We are a people who seek knowledge.  This is evidence by all the different news medias and internet communication groups.  We always want to be the ones “in the know.”  Knowledge of God won’t save us.  Knowledge that Jesus is the Son of God, came to earth as a baby, died on the cross and came back to life wont save us.  Satan has that knowledge.  The only thing that can give us eternal life with God, the only way into the presence of God is through a relationship with Jesus Christ.  This relationship is only possible through faith; a faith that more than knows, a faith that believes, that trusts completely.  A faith that trusts to the extent of giving up one’s power of direction of their own life and entrusting that direction to Jesus.  This is the difference between religion and Christianity.  Religion is man’s efforts to reach up to God or come perceived higher power.  Christianity is a personal, one on one relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.   It is only through such faith that knowledge can produce results and change lives.  Yes, we should seek knowledge but only through the power of our faith in Jesus.
